Broadcasting my inner world & learning in public
Why I started a newsletter and why you should too.
Blessed be, loveliest souls!
Here's why I started writing this newsletter and why you should too.
Lately, I've been getting signs from the Universe to start writing my very own blog. They pop up as epiphanous thoughts that one would know are downloads from their Higher Self and as subtle signs that oftentimes appear in my social media feed.
Clearly, I was being propelled to just start that newsletter already. But it's only at one point that society has advised us to put ourselves out there. Then after a period of time, it's all about "keep your life private!" No one knows for sure what to do. But the question is not what we "should" do. It's a matter of what we want to do.
Life feels much lighter and freer when we just unapologetically let ourselves be. From doing what we want and not giving a damn about what other people say (provided that our doings causes harm to none) to just pretty much minding our own business.
Ever since 2019, I made it a rule in my life to be intentional in everything that I do which is an advice I got from two of my most favorite people/mentors in the world, Ali Abdaal and Leeor Alexandra. Essentially, it's about finding the "why" for every action or decision you have. In this case, I'm writing this newsletter because I want to and because the benefits outweigh the fear.
Here are the benefits I've gathered and thought of when it comes to putting myself out there via writing blog posts or newsletters:
Develop my creativity and communication skills
It will become a strengthening exercise that will encourage my ideas to be birthed into physicality. As a tarot reader, one of the main skills to have but not really discussed is having excellent communication skills. It's one thing to be able to channel messages from Spirit and use your intuition to find clarity or guidance. But making sure the channeled messages get to your querent (the person who receives the card reading) or client clearly and compassionately.
Building a feedback loop
One striking notion that struck with me that I learn from Ali is that "what's obvious for you may be mind-blowing for others."
It was only after I started sharing my thoughts and new learnings on my Instagram dump account and Spiritual Twitter account (@vluvseer) that I realized this even more. Sure, some people will definitely have a say on whatever you will put out. It can be negative and damaging. But it could also be encouraging and positive. This added input from other people can help boost my next posts, ideas, or projects. It's something one cannot get when working without others.
Recording progress
It's a normalcy already to hide the progress and only show the snippet of someone's success. The spotlight is only shown while the struggles or the process leading up to the final product isn't shown to the public.
Writing this newsletter would help me keep track of my progress. It's like having a diary, but there's just a need for more accountability since it's not private. It can record the development of my skills and styles.
But more importantly, it is in this process stage that I hope to connect more with people. I would love to touch the opportunity of sharing vulnerability with other kind-hearted souls and letting them know that they are not alone in going through whatever they are going through.
Establishing a community/following
“By letting go of our egos and sharing our process, we allow for the possibility of people having an ongoing connection with us and our work, which helps us move more.” — Show Your Work! by Austin Kleon
Eventually, blog posts and newsletters can help expand our connections which can then help with our professional life. Before, I've thought about connections as knowing important people who can help you. It's all about whom you know rather than what you know. But something new I learned in Tarot is that—who knows you is more important. This is where the magic really happens.
Being discovered by other people and being known by them for your work might just be the secret ingredient. When we put ourselves out here, we can just focus more on this work since we don't and aren't obliged to find our audience anymore; they are the ones that look for us instead.
It's safe to say after a period of contemplating about pursuing this venture, I realized that there are more benefits to going on this adventure than the costs or risks. This is something I want to do; plus, it has several upsides. So what's stopping me? Fear and anxiety. Those are just the costs or risks. Pretty much, most of the achievements we're about to grasp are just blocked by us. Most of the time, it's we that's stopping us. But I won't fall for that trap anymore. I've decided to get out of my own way and pursue what I know I will enjoy and can help me.
I hope you have an amazing week. It's 4:44 AM as I'm typing this. May we connect in this shared journey of transparency and all things mystical.
Sending so much love and light,
Vence Gabrielle
